On Friday, 2008 August 01, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half of Earth. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow begins in northern Canada and extends across Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China . A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes northeastern North America, most of Europe, and Asia, including India. Details of Timings, Local Circumstances, Safety measures provided here.

Apophis (Asteroid) is an approximately 400 meter near-Earth object (NEO), which will come closer to Earth in 2029 than the orbit of our geostationary satellites. On that pass, the asteroid will be gravitationally perturbed to an unknown orbit, one that could cause it to hit Earth in 2036. However there are many a news items about the possibilities of Apophis' hitting the Earth. Post your collections here.
